Akwaaba

In honor of the last week of Black History Month, I thought I’d share my African inspired adult coloring book with you. Akwaaba! Enjoy.

Are you tired of the media dictating what African cultural is or is not about?

Are you tired of the images of Africa that completely undermine the beauty and sanctity by which the continent of Africa upholds?

Are you longing for a deeper connection to your African roots?

Are you looking for an opportunity to create your own version of Africa by feeling free to do so without restrictions?

If you can answer “yes” to any of these questions, you’re in the right place.

“Akwaaba” means “welcome” in Twi, the native language of the Akan people of Ghana, West Africa. I welcome you to this African inspired coloring book. Within these pages, there are 100 individual images of different representations of the various countries in Africa.

Through the intricate patterns, diverse representations of the people, the collection of masks, and/or calmness of nature, each page is filled with inspiration that will connect the artist to the continent in their own, personal, way.

Adult coloring has many benefits. Some of them include: meditation, reduction in stress and anxiety levels, reducing negative thoughts, and practicing mindfulness. Hence, while becoming empowered to recreate your own African experience, you, the artists, are permitted to reap the benefits of self-care.

Finally! The opportunity to recreate whatever representation of Africa you wish, all while establishing wellness in your life. I hope you enjoy the journey.

Akwaaba!!!
