There’s no doubt that the holiday season is upon us, and with this time, the gift of giving.
But are we giving within reason?
~ Nearly every year since 2008, the amount of money that American consumers spend on holiday gifts has been increasing over the previous year.
~ For 2019, industry experts expect the average American to spend $920 per person on holiday gifts, up from $885 in 2018 and reaching a total of more than $1 trillion in holiday spending.
It’s nice to give when we have it within our budget, but what happens if we don’t? Here are a few things that you may suffer with later, a result of overspending now:
~ You may be late on bill payments.
~ You can’t afford to save money.
~ You won’t have extra money for paying off debt.
~ You may overdraft frequently.
~ You could end up with higher credit card balances.
